Shareholder update

We built the machine.

A lending record becomes a booked appointment, a recorded advice meeting, and a compliant advice file — with no one retyping anything in between. It runs today.

11 August 2026 · Vested · KiwiSaver and life insurance

Platinum generates roughly 5,000 lending applications a month and captures each applicant's KiwiSaver balance and provider. Most of those people can't be lent to. Every one of them is a person whose financial position we already know.

The question was never whether that was valuable. It was whether we could work it at volume without drowning in admin — the thing that makes most advice businesses stall at the size of the team rather than the size of the opportunity.

That machine now exists and runs end to end. This note is what's built, what's next, and what we still need to settle.

What runs today

Every step below was tested live, not designed on paper.

Step one The record arrives and gets called. Applications land in our own CRM, deduplicated, with consent and opt-out state attached. A caller works a queue with the person's actual fund on screen — “you're with ANZ, has anyone ever looked at how that's performing?” No advice is given. They book a free review.
Step two The booking hands over by itself. The moment an appointment is set, the person crosses into the advice platform as a lead — carrying their balance, their provider, and the recording of the call that got them there. Nobody retypes anything, and the client is never asked twice for something they already told us.
Step three The adviser meets them, and the client watches their own numbers move. The client clicks a link and joins in their browser — nothing to install, no account. The adviser walks an eighteen-screen session ending in a live projection: their current fund against a better one, and the gap between them in dollars, changing as the adviser adjusts contributions and retirement age.
Step four The file writes itself. The meeting is recorded, transcribed with each speaker identified, and turned into a compliant file note under the six headings a file review expects. The adviser reads it, edits it, and approves it. After that it cannot be quietly changed.

Why this is different from buying software

Three things in here can't be bought, and they're the reason this is worth owning rather than renting.

The conversation opens with their own money

Most KiwiSaver outreach has to create the moment of doubt — “is your fund any good?” We skip that. Because the balance and provider came across on the application, the very first sentence is about their actual fund. Nobody else calling that person can do that.

The admin that normally caps growth is gone

The industry number for adviser admin is twelve to sixteen hours a week, and the file note is the worst of it. Ours is drafted before the adviser has finished their coffee. That's not a productivity nicety — it's the difference between an adviser carrying forty clients and carrying a hundred.

The compliance file is a by-product, not a chore

Every call recorded, every meeting transcribed, every disclosure timestamped, every figure carrying the date it came from. Not because a regulator asked, but because it falls out of the way the system works. When someone does ask, the answer is already assembled.

The adviser recommended moving to the Milford Balanced Fund, on the basis of the same risk level, a better long-term track record, and lower fees. Roberts did not agree to proceed immediately, saying they wanted to speak with their partner first.

Written by the system from a live recorded meeting. Note what it does not do — it doesn't claim a sale that didn't happen. A file note that overstates agreement is how a file becomes indefensible.

Built on things we already own

This was assembly, not a cold start.

AssetWhat it contributes
KiwiSaver fund dataEvery fund, every provider — drawn from the statutory filings each provider must publish. The reason we can open with someone's own numbers.
The dialerA production calling system: local caller ID, call recording, AI scoring, two-way texting, cadences. Already proven on other books.
The advice session toolEighteen screens ending in the live projection. Built and tested before Vested existed.
Call and transcription pipelinesRecording to transcript to structured output, already running in two other businesses.

The expensive parts were already paid for. What happened this week was joining them together under Vested's own accounts, so the machine belongs to the company rather than sitting on somebody's laptop.

What we deliberately haven't done

We haven't built the life insurance journey yet, and that's on purpose. Life carries more compliance weight than KiwiSaver — replacement business, health information, underwriting. We want our compliance officer to watch the KiwiSaver flow run end to end and tell us what the file has to contain, rather than us guessing and rebuilding.

We haven't called a single real person. Everything so far runs on fabricated records shaped like Platinum's. Before any real outreach we need Platinum's application privacy wording confirmed, and do-not-call suppression switched on.

The one thing that would speed everything up. Naming a compliance officer who can sit through a walkthrough. Almost everything currently parked is parked behind a question only they can answer — what the advice file must contain, how long records are kept, and the wording we use to disclose that Platinum is both our lead source and a shareholder.

What we need from you

The honest summary

The hard part is done. A person can go from a lending application to an approved advice file without anyone rekeying a single number, and every step of that has been run live rather than drawn on a whiteboard.

What's left is presentation, the second product, and a handful of answers that only the people in this group can give. None of it is technical risk.

The window matters more than the build. Platinum's applications are arriving now, and every month that flow isn't worked is a month of conversations nobody had.
